Let's do this
We'll make planning your wedding feel manageable by breaking down all the key details into smaller sections. Once you've completed the answers for one section, then we'll move onto the next.
As you provide your answers, I'll arrange them into a Wedding Day Timeline and Decor Notes document. This document will have all the details and timing for your wedding day, so that our staff can execute your vision in the way you intended. We can't wait to get started...
I'm heather
am so excited you're here. Planning a wedding from a distance can seem extra stressful, but rest assured, you've got the GHI team behind you, ready to help make this simple and easy.

guest count • colors and style • photography
1. Estimated Guest Count
This can be your current best guess in terms of anticipated guest count. We know this number will change once your rsvp's come back, and we will adjust it accordingly. But for now, this is the estimated size of the group we will plan for.
2.Babies and Toddlers
Let us know how many babies and toddlers you currently expect, and if you will need a highchair or booster seat provided (we have two available). High chairs and boosters are usually used by babies from about 5 months to 2 years.
3. Basic Color Scheme
Let us know the MAIN COLOR and ACCENT COLOR(S) of your event.
4. Style Description
Give us a few words to describe the style or feel of the event you envision. Examples of helpful words include: "rustic", "elegant", "vintage", "boho", "whimsical", "classic", "simple", "winter wonderland" etc.
5. Photography
5a - Will you be adding on the in house photography package, or hiring an outside vendor.
5b - Will you be adding on the mountain photoshoot.
5c - If YES, do you prefer to do the mountain photoshoot - BEFORE the ceremony (after a first look) or AFTER the ceremony during the beginning of cocktail hour.
Here is the basic information I'll need to get a wedding day timeline started for you:
A welcome statement is a small display of decor just outside the front of the venue.
A lovely way to give guests a taste of the colors and style they are about to see inside.
Try to look at the main pieces themselves and not the styling (eg: the ribbons and faux flowers etc. will be coordinated to your wedding colors and style by our team)
We'll have this set up for you when you arrive on your wedding day, so you can approve how it looks.

WHITE TEA CART
MINI WAGON
A great choice for events with a vintage or afternoon tea style. We will add a white chalkboard with your names and wedding date, and will theme the cart with items from our prop inventory that match the style and colors of your event. *the tea cart is also a cake table option, so don't choose it for your welcome statement if you'd like to have it as your cake table.
Especially cute for fall weddings, but available all year, the little wooden wagon is propped up on antique apple crates to give it a little height. We'll include a chalkboard with your names and wedding date, and theme to the style of your event.
Large gold framed mirror with a pre printed message (so we are not able to add your names as we would on a chalkboard). Placed on our large black easel. We usually add a ribbon in your colors and sometimes some faux greenery or faux flowers from our decor inventory
This is our most requested welcome statement. Perfect for couples who want to incorporate a rustic feel to their day and their decor. We'll provide antique apple crates, white framed chalkboard with your names and date. We'll also use items from our decor inventory to theme this area in a way that matches your event. Couples are welcome to bring a personalized sign instead if they'd like.
rustic dresser
Another rustic choice. We'll place a personalized white chalkboard on the dresser with your names and wedding date. We'll theme the area with items from our prop inventory that match the colors and style of your reception. *the rustic dresser is also a cake table option, so if you'd like this as your cake table, it cannot be your welcome statement choice.
rustic brown chalkboard
Cute Easel -Style brown wood chalkboard will be personalized with your name and wedding date and themed in your colors and style of event with items from our prop inventory.
white chalkboard
A classic white chalkboard set on our black iron easel. Perfect for more classic, elegant or simple wedding styles.

Common FAQs
Q: How long have you been a photographer?
A: I first picked up a camera seriously when I was a teenager (35mm film days), and I fell in love with documenting moments and life's story as I traveled around with my family. But it wasn't until I graduated with my Bachelors of Business in 2007 that I took it on as a full-time career. So, we're talking 10+ years now as a profession. Man, now I feel old. Haha!
Q: How many weddings have you photographed?
A: I've photographed over 200 weddings as the lead photographer, and I've had over 1,000 portrait sessions. And since there's only 52 weekends in a year, my weekends have been basically filled with love stories and late-night celebrations ever since I became a photographer 10+ years ago!
Q: Do I need a second photographer?
A: Honestly, it comes down to a budget question. Unlimited budget - then sure, you'll get more beautiful photos. bPersonally, I say no --- unless you have more than 200 guests AND you want specific focus on them and/or you want the exact same moment captured from two different angles OR if you have a really large wedding venue that would be difficult to move between two areas quickly. Otherwise, I have personally photographed more than 200 weddings completely solo and every single couple I have ever worked with has been 100% happy. Even for my own wedding, I hired one photographer, not two. Why? Because I had either the budget for one amazingly talented photographer or two photographers with a lesser amount of talent and experience and quality. So, I went with quality and experience. For my full thoughts on the subject, check out this blog post (click here). That said, I can totally hire one for your wedding if you really want one.
Q: Do I need an engagement session?
A: That totally depends on your needs. You can use the photos for your save-the-dates, invitations, website registries, guest books, framed prints for your guest table, bar, and your house... and of course Facebook & Instagram! Plus, it's a way for you to get a little practice in front of the camera before your big day and it gives us an opportunity to get to know each other. :) Personally, I highly recommend it. And heck, it's also a really great way to add to your experience as an engaged couple. Make the most of it!
Q: What kind of equipment do you use?
A: This might start getting a bit technical, but I personally use a Canon 5DIV and 5DIII with prime lenses. Both are literally on me at all times throughout your wedding day so I never have to worry about changing lenses, switching memory cards, or changing batteries. Every moment matters - and this is where the 10+ years of experience really kicks in.
Q: Do you offer any albums, prints, canvases, guest books, etc?
A: Totally! But I want you feeling 1,000% comfortable and excited about the quality of your photographs before placing orders on those. That way, you only order exactly what you want, when you want, and when you know with confidence that they are going to look amazing on your walls and in your fine art heirloom albums. And all of this is done & ordered right through your online gallery!
Q: Do you offer payment plans?
A: Yes, I do! Traditional payments are 50% due at the time of booking (within a week) and the final 50% is due 30 days prior to your wedding day. But, if you wanted to do the payment plan, I can stretch it into equal 1/3's or 1/4's if that works best for you. Just let me know what you prefer, and I will make it happen. It's that easy.
Q: what happens if you aren't able to make it to our big day?
In the super unlikely event that I am too ill, injured, or there's some other emergency, either I or my wife have a list of colleagues that we can call on to replace me that have similar styles of photography & editing. That said, in the 10+ years I've been doing this full-time, I have never even been 60 seconds late. You're in good hands. I promise.
Q: How do I book you for my wedding day?
A: Love that question the most! To book me for your special day, simply let me know what you want included in your custom collection: 1) Number of hours of coverage, 2) Engagement session (optional), 3) Second photographer or none (optional), and 4) What payment plan option works best for you.
