Frequently Asked Questions & Answers

Q: what is included in your in house photography package?

A: Our Onsite Photography package includes full coverage of your wedding day from your arrival at the venue until your send off at the conclusion of your event.  All special parts of the day will be covered including: Decor Details, Getting Ready photos, First Look (if you are doing one) Ceremony, Posed Portraits of the couple, wedding party and family.  Candid reception shots.  First Dance, Cake Cutting, Toasts, Parent Dances.  And any other special and or candid moments taking place during your event.  All photos are beautifully edited, and provided to you via a secure online gallery.  Couple receives full printing rights.

Q: How many pictures will we receive?

A: As you can imagine, this varies for every wedding and an exact number can't be provided.  The industry standard is that couples can expect to receive about 50-75 photos in their gallery for each hour the photographer is onsite.  Most GHI couples receive around 400-600 finished edited photos (the only thing we'll edit out is unflattering shots, closed eyes, blurry photos, duplicate shots etc)

Q: I feel awkward in front of the camera, can you help?

A: Yes!  I totally relate!  A big part of my job is to help you feel relaxed in front of the camera.  We'll start off slowly, and I'll teach you all my best tips and techniques for looking your best and having fun in front of the camera!  I can't wait to create a low pressure, highly fun experience for you both!

Q: how do you describe your style of photography?

A: I shoot in a style called "Light and Airy" or "Bright and Airy".  I love shooting photos that look dreamy and romantic, with lots of natural light, bright pastel colors and a soft dreamy blur to the backgrounds.  All the photos on this website, and on our wedding blog are examples of the work and style you can expect from me.

Q: HOw soon will i receive my finished wedding photos?

A: My goal is for each couple to receive their finished gallery within about 3 weeks of their wedding day.  My processing time can be a little longer during busy months like June and October.

Q: does this package include prints or an album?

A: No.  In keeping with our mission to provide simple, affordable weddings and add on's, our photography package includes a Digital Gallery of high resolution images that you will be able to down load and print as you desire.  This style of delivery is often referred to as "Shoot and Share", meaning the couple does not have to return and purchase prints from their photographer.  I am happy to share my suggestions for the best places for you to print your images, or suggestions for where you can create a photo book or album.

Q: Can my friend, relative, or someone else also be hired to shoot alongside you?

Q: tell me about the additional mountaintop photoshoot?

Q: can i have the raw (unedited) files to keep or edit myself?

Q: do you have an onsite Cinematography / videography package?

Q: do you offer black and white images?

Q: what gear do you use?

Q: tell me about the wedding photo sneak peek?

Q: i'm hiring my own outside photographer, can you share all the good spots for pictures?

A: No.  To serve you in the best way possible and get the best photos possible for you, I'll need to be the only hired photographer at the wedding.  Having a friend or guest or new photographer shadow me, slows down the process and impacts both your experience and the final images.  If this doesn't suit your wishes or needs, I totally understand, and couples are more than welcome to choose hire an outside photographer instead of our in house package.

A: Our amazingly close proximity to the mountaintop means we have the opportunity for an extra photo shoot with epic mountain backdrops.  This is not required, and there are PLENTY of beautiful spots to take photos on the grounds of the GHI.  The Mountain Photo shoot is a fun extra, intended for a couple who loves or has a special connection to the mountains, or is looking forward to really epic backgrounds.  The Mountain Photo shoot can take place after a first look and prior to the ceremony, or we can extend cocktail hour and get our mountain photos after the ceremony - the choice is up to each couple.  Usually this photoshoot is for the wedding couple only.  Couples are welcome to ride with the photographer, so that travel logistics are easy!

A: No.  RAW files (meaning, the large unedited files) are not provided to the couple as they are unfinished work.  All your photos will be beautifully and carefully edited in my personal style and provided to you as a finished product.  Permission to self edit your photos is not granted, as it would no longer be a representation of my work.

A: Yes.  Couples always receive a selection of black and white images among their color photos.

A: I know you'll be really excited to see your finished photos asap (and so will the folks at home!).  I offer a complimentary Wedding Photo Sneak Peek to all the GHI couples using our photography services.  Several dozen favorite photos from your day, are selected by me and published in a sneak peek blog post featuring your wedding day on our Wedding Blog.  Blog posts are usually available within 72 hours of your wedding day!  This is a complimentary, optional service (think of it as my special gift to you!).  Couples who prefer not to have their photos on our blog are of course welcome to decline a photo preview.

A: There are lots of great spots to take photos on the grounds of the GHI!!! A trained photographer knows to choose spots for great light above all other considerations, so depending on the sun and clouds, great spots are different every day.  Your photographer is welcome to look through our portfolio book for inspiration, but we know they'll have their own big ideas for your photos, and will be able to identify the best spots for the current light conditions and their own artistic vision for the day.  I don't recommend having an outside photographer do a mountaintop photoshoot with you, UNLESS they have the ability to come out and scout locations ahead of time.  You'll want a really great plan for mountain photos to minimize your time off site during the wedding, so you can be with your guests as much as possible.  Out of respect for your photographer we'll let them choose the locations and make a great plan with you!

A: I use a Canon 5d Mark iv.  My backup camera is a Canon 5d Mark iii,  I use Canon L series prime lenses to shoot with, including a 50mm 1.2, 85mm 1.4, 100mm 2.8 macro lens, and 35mm 1.4.

A: We do offer an onsite Cinematography package for $595.  You can read all the details on our CINEMATOGRAPHY PAGE - HERE.  Please note that I only work with our in house Cinematographer.  If you'd like to hire an outside Cinematographer, you'll need to hire an outside photographer as well.  This is because it is extremely important to have great communication with one another, as we both want the same shots.

Q: what kind of retouching is included?

A: Basic retouching to include exposure, cropping, white balance, color adjustments and straightening are included.  Couples are responsible for satisfaction with their own appearance on the wedding day (I know you are going to be GORGEOUS!!!).  Retouching does not include removal of objects, addition of people or objects, changing your size or elements of your attire.  You are perfect just the way you are, and I can help you look your very best with great posing, and attention to detail (so we make sure to tuck that pesky bra strap back in before we take the photo!)

Yep, it's that easy!
