There is something especially beautiful about things that are handmade.  Artists have always known this I suppose.  An item handmade with care seems to be infused with an extra something special… maybe it is a little bit of the spirit of the person who created it.  Needless to say, I gasped in delight when I opened an email from our bride Colleen a few days before her wedding.   It read “I made this last night, and would love to incorporate it into our wedding somehow…” and attached was a picture of the sweetest painting in colors that would perfectly match their sweetheart’s table!  And that was not the only wonderful surprise…when Colleen and Stewart arrived on their wedding day, they showed me the most beautiful hand made cake knife – made by Stewart!!!  One one side of the smooth wooden handle he had engraved Colleen’s maiden name, and on the other side, their new last name!  It seemed so perfect to have a special item created by both the bride and groom as part of the wedding decor.  And I’m not going to lie…I think that cake knife might have some special powers, as I have never seen a cake cutting go as well as Colleen and Stewarts 🙂  Tandem cake cutting is never easy, and usually good for a few lighthearted giggles, but this particular piece of cake came out perfectly – and I just know that amazing knife had something to do with it!  We appreciated everything about our wonderful bride and groom – from their creative spirits, to their beautiful wedding vows, and their ease and beauty in front of the camera (these two are so humble, I still don’t think they know how gorgeous they are!!!)  It was a blessing to spend time with such a wonderful duo!  Enjoy some of our favorite moments from this beautiful day…
