Elegant and Sparkly New Year’s Day Wedding – Evelyn and Richard 1.1.19

His suit was crisp and his cane was elegant and polished.  And although his step may have been slowed a little by Time, the twinkle in his eye and his quick wit were as sharp as ever.  I introduced him to the wedding officiant, and he looked him up and down and said with a sweet chuckle, “Oh, you’ll be just perfect”!  “Papa” as everyone affectionately calls him, was the 92 year old father of our Groom.  He had a place of honor on his son’s wedding day, and would be escorting our beautiful Bride Evelyn down the aisle.  Papa had a few tricks up his sleeve, which he gleefully shared with the officiant…including a lovely speech as he “gave the bride away”.  I share this moment, because for me, it really sums up the beauty of this day.  How incredible to be around people who understand the deep connections of family, the importance of honoring each family member and the contributions they share with their loved ones.  Every family should be so lucky to have such a refined and eloquent Patriarch.  We should of course talk about our amazing Bride Evelyn.  Her elegance and sophistication left such a lasting impression on me.  In the short time I got to know her, I’ve decided she is the person you’d want to go to Paris with…she would know all the best shops, and secret spots, and her gorgeous manners would help you feel at home wherever you went.  She was simply stunning in her beaded gown and upswept hair.  A classic beauty.  Evelyn was surrounded by her amazing daughters and bonus daughters as she got ready during the morning.  Such a talented, sweet and fun group of young ladies, their happy energy made picture taking so much fun!  Our Groom Richard was just so wonderful.  I loved witnessing the moment when he saw his bride for the first time.  Up in the dressing suites I shared with him that Evelyn was feeling a little bit nervous that he would like the gown she had chosen and without missing a beat he said “she would look gorgeous in a flour sack” – I told you he was wonderful!  I couldn’t possibly imagine a greater group of people to begin the New Year with.  We are so honored to have hosted this special day and simply can’t wait to share a few favorite moments in this little sneak peek…
