“Ever since I was a little girl, the number 11 looked like two people standing side by side…it just seems like the perfect day to get married on”
Many years ago, while hosting a wedding on the 11th of the month, the bride smiled shyly and shared with me “Ever since I was a little girl, I have always thought that the number 11 looked like two people standing side by side… it just seems like the perfect day to get married on.” I have never forgotten that image of two people standing side by side, and now I always smile to myself whenever we host a wedding on the 11th. Fast forward to last week, on 11.11.17, and as I made my way up the staircase of the Golden Horseshoe Inn, the sound of joyful laughter met me half way up, and I entered the bridal suite not to the usual shrieks of “close the door – the groom might see”, but rather to the sight of Bride and Groom standing side by side, joined by their Maid of Honor and Best Man, sharing a hearty laugh and filling the room with relaxed joy. Jane and Ryan were side by side, for the entire day, comfortable with flouting traditions that didn’t serve them, and making their wedding day completely about being together – side by side, just like the number 11.
There were so many special touches – the cake topper which was a quote from Beauty and the Beast, and perfectly matched the bridal processional music. The antique engagement ring that belonged to Jane’s grandmother, and was photographed with her own engagement ring. A beautiful hanger for Jane’s simple, yet stunning wedding gown. And “indie perfume” an obsession shared by Jane and her maid of honor Aubrey – special perfume handmade in micro batches. Here are just a few favorite moments from a day that was everything a wedding should be, a day about two people standing side by side <3 …
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
