Wedding in the Virginia Mountains – Kimberly and Matthew 6.29.19

As a wedding planner and wedding photographer, if I had my choice of super-powers, I would definitely choose control of the weather.  But it seems I didn’t need those powers for Kim and Matt’s wedding…everything just seemed to happen perfectly on its own!   It was the first really hot day of the summer, but a steady breeze blew, and after the ceremony, when we had just finished our mountain top photos, a quick storm passed by to cool things down for us.  We giggled as we threaded our way through the raindrops, which perfectly appeared when our photos were finished and we were two steps from the car.  As the fat raindrops started to fall faster, Matt still took the time to help his lovely bride into her seat before dashing around to climb in on his side.  I can tell that the family and guests at this wedding all got to witness the beautiful, gentle love shared between Kim and Matt.  I always joke with the couples that take a ride in my car for photos, that driving newlyweds is a lot like driving with a newborn baby for the first time.  It’s funny, but it’s also true!  The is something so special about a wedding day, and I always feel like I am in the presence of something beautiful and brand new and so full of potential, when I am with newlyweds!  The sweet moments I saw between Kimberly and Matt – the look on their faces of pure joy and sweet relief and disbelief at the whirlwind of it all as they made their way down the aisle during the recessional.  The way they lit up when they caught each others eye during photos.  The inside jokes and whispered compliments.  The way they checked on each other, making sure nothing was needed.  This was a day like that.  So much love and care.  And there were so many other wonderful elements at this wedding – two of the most adorable flower girls ever.  A wonderful feast for dinner, followed by chocolate(!) cake!  A gift bag for each guest upon their departure, lovingly put together by our bride and groom.  Kimberly joked that she went on an etsy shopping spree, but we loved seeing all the beautiful touches of decor she provided for the wedding day.  Beautiful wooden signs both for the welcome statement out front, and the guest book.  And vases hand wrapped in twine for the centerpieces.  All these details came together wonderfully to create a sweet summery wedding feel – just perfect for their day!  I am so excited to share a little sneak peek from this gorgeous summer wedding day…

The GHI family sends their biggest congratulations to Kimberly and Matt!

-xoxo Heather
