Wonderland Wedding Alicia and Amber 5.30.21

Alice in wonderland has always been a favorite of mine. I’m not sure why…maybe it was Alice’s frilly white and blue dress, or the endless steaming cups of tea, the whimsy of talking to animals and flowers, or maybe it was the idea that there is something more out there…that if we look, magic is close by. Amber and Alicia’s wedding day embodied all of these things…riots of beautiful flowers, cheerful mismatched teacups, skeleton keys to lead you to your seat, two beautiful dresses, and a sense of magic…that something wonderful was taking place, and that we were a part of the lucky few invited to see it come to life! It was a beautiful way to end the month of May, and a most amazing start to what is traditionally celebrated as Pride month for the LGBTQ+ community. Amber and Alicia brought some amazing decor items with them, including the beautiful screen behind the wedding cake, a handmade sign for the front of the venue, listing some of their favorite places. This wonderful couple dreamed of a wedding day that was – in Amber’s words “a cross between The Secret Garden and Alice in Wonderland”, and I think we got it just right! Both of our brides were stunning in their gowns, and both brought the assembled guests to tears with their personal wedding vows shared in a beautiful outdoor ceremony. We ventured up to the mountain, and the overcast skies cleared for us in the most lovely way, and gave us some spectacular wedding portraits to remember this special day. Back at the Golden Horseshoe Inn, guests were delighted by handmade succulent favors, planted in mismatched tea cups. Iced cookies of all varieties, which I am told is a Pittsburg wedding tradition. And a delightful dinner followed by eloquently delivered speeches from Best Man Evan and Best Dude Liz, some excellent dancing, a few impromptu performances, and lots and lots of fun. This was an incredible day to be a part of, and an incredible group of people to spend the day with. I am so excited to share some favorite moments from this gorgeous wedding day…
