Epic Virginia Elopement – Lizzy and Coburn 6.20.20

Lizzy and Coburn’s beautiful wedding day was preceded by many twists and turns thanks to the pandemic. The large wedding they had lovingly planned turned into an intimate day for just the two of them and a few very close family members and loved ones. All those who are near and dear to Lizzy and Coburn were still in their hearts and on their minds during this special day. “Is there any way we could get just a couple photos from you tomorrow?” they asked…”we really want to send out an announcement right away to everyone who would have been at our bigger wedding!”. And that little moment describes these two exceptionally well…so sweet and so kind and so very thoughtful, thinking of others even during their own wedding day. Once the plan was made to downsize, all the details seemed to fall into place…Lizzy’s gorgeous fitted lace gown arrived and didn’t need a single alteration. Same with Coburn’s wedding suit (Lizzy had carefully measured him at home, and they crossed their fingers as they ordered it online) which was a perfect fit. A forecast which had seemed in the days leading up to the wedding to be filled with rain, ended up behaving itself for the big event…only sprinkling now and again, but with blue skies and no storms. And although the special pin that Lizzy’s sister had ordered is still lost in the mail somewhere, the replacement gift she found was simply stunning. A tribute their late mother, in the form of beautiful moth, which was tied to Lizzy’s bouquet. This made the moment when a moth fluttered into the venue and perched in the window for Lizzy to discover even more breathtaking and special. Lizzy and Coburn enjoyed a private ceremony where they shared heartfelt, hand written personal vows. A celebration full of photos and a beautifully written toast given by Coburn’s mom, along with cake and sparkling cider followed. And as the festivities concluded, the wedding guests snuck away to prepare a celebratory dinner, and Lizzy and Coburn followed me to one of my favorite spots for some epic mountain photos in Shenandoah National Park. It was a day full of love, and little touches of magic, and I am so excited to share some favorite images with you from this simply wonderful intimate Virginia wedding day…
