Golden Horseshoe Wedding – Kaitlyn and Daniel 1.4.20

There is an art to appreciating each moment as it comes.  An art to not getting so caught up in “what could be” that “right now” is forgotten.  Our sweet couple Kaitlyn and Daniel helped me remember this wisdom in the most magical way, on their wedding day!  As many of our couples do, they were especially excited for their mountain photo shoot – perhaps they imagined epic landscapes rolling out towards forever from behind a swirling wedding gown… I know I certainly did.  So when the rain started to fall on our way up the mountain, I held my breath, and as the rain came down harder, Daniel joked “I think it’s letting up”.  We drove in and out of patchy fog until we rounded a bend and pulled in to our planned destination.  The mountains were gone, lost behind an impenetrable (at least with a camera!) wall of fog and pouring rain.  We didn’t even get out of the car.   But Kaitlyn and Daniel joked back and forth and looked forward to rejoining their friends at the cozy venue.  They simply accepted what was (easier said than done on your wedding day!) and happily continued on.  Now, here’s where the magic came in.  As dinner came to a close, the rain let up, and then it stopped, and the clouds started to roll away, catching the setting sun in their reflection and turning the sky the EXACT color of Kaitlyn and Daniel’s wedding theme – pink and blue!  We hurried back to the mountain, and found not only an incredible sky…but a RAINBOW!!!  It was so exciting, and so worth waiting for!  And to their credit, not a moment of their day was wasted with disappointment, or regret.  Our lovely bride and groom lived in the moment and received the most wonderful reward!  From beginning to end it was a marvelous day!  We loved getting to know Kaitlyn and Daniel’s friends and wedding party!  This was an incredible group of people who love and care for each other deeply.  When I think about this wedding, I will always think of the rainbow first…but there were SO MANY other special touches as well!  Tiny boxes of the bride and groom’s favorite candy for each guest.  A popcorn bar (the Churro kettlecorn was AH-MAZING!) during cocktail hour.  Glittering centerpieces perfect for a holiday wedding.  And everyone’s style was top notch!  Kaitlyn’s gown was so special, with a layer of white sequins hidden under the top layer of tulle – she sparkled wherever she went!  Each bridesmaid wore a special gift from Kaitlyn – a sparkly bracelet.  And you guys know I love shoes the most…I had to admire our groom Daniel’s strong shoe game – his shoes got their own mini photo shoot!  And the shoes had another moment to shine later in the evening during the “shoe game” – a really sweet wedding game that is always fun to watch!  I am so excited to share some of my favorite images from this wonderful mountain wedding day…

That’s a rainbow (!) just off the groom’s shoulder on the left!

Congratulations to the happy couple from the entire GHI family!
