1940’s inspired Sweet Sixteen Photo Shoot

A Sweet Sixteen in Quarantine is not exactly what we were planning…but it is what we got.  So, like the rest of the world, we are doing our best to make lemonade from lemons.  Meet Belle.  My beautiful, quirky, crazy-smart, astrophysicist wanna be, almost sixteen year old daughter.  When she is not gathering “fun facts of the day”, watching the night skies through her telescope or studying for the 8 million AP classes she is taking, she helps out on weekends at the Golden Horseshoe Inn.  Stephen has been working with our friends and neighbors at Rounton Farm on a promotional video, and when he mentioned heading over there to shoot some spring footage, I was dying to tag along.  So I Pinterested (that’s a word, right?) “Sweet Sixteen” photo shoot, and saw a lot of cute photos of girls in mini dresses and tiaras – which is COMPLETELY awesome – but not quite “Isabel”.  So we gathered a few items from our closets and pulled together an aesthetic that was totally Belle.  She is a dedicated tea aficionado (although when I started trying to decide which cup from my collection matched her outfit best, she sighed and said “mom, you are so extra”), loves to read, and loves to dress – in her own words “with an industrial era orphan aesthetic”.  So may I present very our last minute, closet sourced, socially distanced, driveway photoshoot for Belle’s Sweet Sixteen.

And just for fun…how Belle put this look together:

Sweater: Target Men’s Section Clearance $4

Belt: Goodwill $1
