A bride who was as sweet and kind on the inside as she was beautiful on the outside. A flower girl in a princess dress and matching cape. A wonderful and patient groom. A roaring fire in the hearth and a joyful celebration in the parlor. This was just the best day ever! Christy and Stephen are the most incredible couple and we were so fortunate they chose the Golden Horseshoe Inn to host their intimate wedding day. It was a delight to get to know Christy, first via email and then in person! Concise and organized, she was a wedding planner’s dream to work with! Christy started the day with just the girls – she arrived with her amazing daughter Katie and flower girl Vaughn for a fun morning of hair and make up by two of our favorite local stylists. The gentlemen arrived a little later, and I had the pleasure of meeting our groom Stephen, and his two sons and grandson. This was just the most wonderful group of people – relaxed, fun and excited for the days events! Stephen’s grand daughter, and flower girl for the wedding day, Vaughn, immediately charmed us. “It’s my very first wedding I’ve been to, AND my first time being a flower girl, so I should probably practice TWICE” she confided to our assistant wedding planner Monique. Spoiler alert – Vaughn did an AMAZING job as flower girl, and even stayed outside in the cold for an extra petal throwing photo for me – she was such a great sport! There are really no words to describe how stunning Christy was in her gown and veil. She was a completely breathtaking bride – every detail from her hair, to her accessories to the last minute addition of her veil (she wasn’t sure if she would wear one or not, and I am so glad she did – it caught the light so magically later that day on Skyline Drive!) was perfect! After a lovely outdoor ceremony and photos on the grounds, we retreated to the front parlor and the warmth of the fireplace. A champagne toast was followed by red velvet wedding cake and time for our group to warm up and enjoy each other’s company. Then we were off to the mountain top. “I’m no photographer”, Stephen said, tapping me on the shoulder, “but I wonder what you think about this shot” and he motioned me over to where he stood a few feet away. His beautiful bride was caught in the glow of the quickly descending sun, and she was simply pure magic. These are some photos that I am so excited about! So thank you Stephen, you are hired!!! I had so much fun on the mountaintop I didn’t realize how cold it was until I was back in the car and the thermometer read 29 degrees! Christy was the most amazing bride and never complained once about being cold. This was a day that was hard to say goodbye to – such lovely people sharing such a special time together. Thank you so much for letting the GHI be a part of your day! And without further ado, some favorite moments from this magical day…
Congratulations to the newlyweds!
