Virginia Micro Wedding Tylir and Joshua 4.18.21

Tylir and Joshua’s wedding day was a dream.  Beautiful weather.  Beautiful people.  And all the redbuds in bloom, covering our mountain valley in a perfect haze of pink.  This day felt magical.  It was due in great part to the gentle love shared by this entire family.  The little things.  Which sometimes, are the things that mean the most.  I loved witnessing the gentle care that both our groom Joshua and his brother had for their mom.  The way Joshua proudly took her arm to walk her down the aisle.  The thought each guest put into their beautiful attire.  The father of the bride wore the same suit his own father had worn on his wedding day, sentimental and so stylish!  The shoe game was strong at this wedding – with Joshua winning the prize for his gorgeous handmade Italian shoes, saved for, and purchased especially for this monumental day.  I loved the way we may need to increase our tissue budget, after all the happy tears that flowed this day…in the dressing rooms, during the first looks, for the ceremony, and even the heartfelt toasts.  And our bride Tylir.  I’m not even sure where to begin.  The word “ethereal” comes to mind.  Maybe I’ve been reading too many fairy stories (Monique has been teasing me about that) but my goodness, Tylir looked like she had stepped straight from the pages of a fairytale.  Long hair worn in gentle waves over her shoulders.  A simple, yet exquisite gown (ordered online!) that was just perfect for twirling.  She was an astonishing beauty.  I can tell just from my short time knowing Tylir and Joshua, that they put their hearts and minds into everything they do.  Each decision, and purchase and choice in their lives, made with careful consideration.  Tylir loved supporting small businesses for her wedding purchases, almost all from Etsy, and all but one made in America.  They included handmade rings, vintage cake forks engraved with the wedding date, a gorgeous personalized gown hanger, and an engraved pocket watch for her groom.  I photographed the special watch in Joshua’s hand and glimpsed him carefully press it into the lining of his jacket.  He was speaking to me, but also a little to himself, as he mused “I think that after the ceremony, I’ll pull the battery out, so the time on this watch stops forever on our wedding day”.  I know!!!  So sweet.  This whole group, was so special to get to know and spend time with.  We all got to listen to the beautiful personal vows that Tylir and Joshua shared during their ceremony.  And then all my photography dreams came true as we traipsed to the edge of the woods, and into a cloud of redbud blooms for some incredible wedding portraits.  Cake, Champagne, and special photos followed.  Tylir and Joshua’s whole group stayed at the nearby Lydia mountain lodge, and as the festivities concluded, they headed back there together, to continue their celebration on this unforgettable day.  I am so excited to share some favorite moments from this delightful wedding day…

Congratulations to the happy couple!

-xoxo Heather
