MEET heather

When Mike took a chance and ran out of the bar to give his number to the amazing girl he had just met…well, who knew it would lead us to this beautiful wedding day!  Katie and Mike were married on a sunny September afternoon on a day that celebrated taking chances, and taking swings on the golf course 🙂  As you scroll through the pictures you’ll have fun finding the subtle ways Mike’s love of golf was incorporated into this wedding day!  Katie and Mike choose Navy and Blush for their wedding colors, and the venue looked so pretty as guests were greeted on the porch with a mug of pink lemonade!  Upstairs in the bridal suite, preparations were in the very capable hands of Maid of Honor Tammy and Bridesmaid Jade.  These wonderful ladies took the very best care of the lovely Katie as she prepared for her big day!  Katie was just the most amazing bride – calm, funny, organized, and absolutely stunning in her gown.  She prepared a special card and gift for her groom, and it was an amazing experience to watch all the emotions pass over his face, as he read her sweet words and opened her thoughtful gift – a watch engraved with the words “I will love you until the end of time” – how perfect is that!  This was such a wonderful gathering of wonderful people (special shout out to the amazing trio of Groomsmen..Andrew, Billy and Best Man John) and we loved getting to witness all the love shared on this special day!  Katie and Mike planned a wedding day with a timeline that was customized to suit their taste.  After a lovely ceremony (kudos to guest Keith who gave a wonderful reading!) and photos, guests enjoyed light refreshments, toasts and special dances.  Guests then headed out to Charlottesville for a wedding dinner at The Local, and Mike and Katie snuck away with me for some beautiful mountain top photos before joining their guests in town for dinner!  It really does feel like fall in the mountains already, and the sun drenched, leaf scattered meadow photos were my personal favorites of the day!  I can’t wait to share some of the best parts of this incredible day with you…

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs. from the entire GHI family!

-xoxo Heather

My very favorite part of this job is getting to be in the presence of radiant happiness.  I’ve always been a little bit too empathetic…I absorb the feelings of those around me whether I want to or not.  But on days like this one…days like Laura and Bill’s wedding day, the feeling of being in […]

We had the best day ever with Kiera and Lethon, during their gorgeous mountain elopement!  Kiera was a true superwoman, completing her nursing finals and then jumping right into planning the details of her special day!  I joked that I was truly safe with this amazing bride and groom, as they are both in the […]

Lisa and Brian were wedding guests at the Golden Horseshoe Inn waaaay back in 2014.  Somewhere in the back of their minds, they tucked us away as a sweet spot to renew their vows when the time came to celebrate a milestone anniversary.  And luckily for us, their beautiful 10 year anniversary vow renewal ceremony […]

One of the unexpected gifts of the current pandemic has been the gift of more time!  I just love photographing engagement sessions, but my busy wedding schedule means they can be really hard to fit in.  Which is why I had just the best time ever roaming through the mountains with Allison and Vince.  A […]
